It is common to see companies launching updates to change performance and other aspects of smartphones. We can see that some of these updates reach devices in the Internet of Things spectrum, but it is not uncommon for an update to reach the power bank. Well, that's exactly what happened with Apple and its MegSafe power bank. The company shipped its MegSafe power bank but is apparently unhappy with the initial charging speed provided by the devices. Therefore, the company released a firmware update that adds a few watts to the MagSafe battery pack. Now owners of iPhones that support MagSafe wireless charging will enjoy faster speeds.
Apple is speeding up the power bank with the latest version 2.7 firmware update. This firmware update increases wireless speeds from 5W to 7.5W. It's not a big deal, but it's still important and Apple seems to consider it safe. According to the company, the update will start automatically after users connect their battery packs to their iPhones. We assume that when the device is connected to iPhone 12 or iPhone 13, the device will be updated in the shadow. It will take a few days for the update to reach all users. However, it is possible to check the current firmware version through the settings. All you need to do is go to Settings >> General >> About >> MagSafe Battery Pack.
MagSafe Battery Pack 5W caught fire due to slow charging

To recall, Apple released its MegSafe battery pack in July 2021. It was the company's second-largest device using MagSafe technology after the MegSafe Wallet. The device has been well-received by some Apple fans, but there are also many disappointed fans. After all, many people are disappointed with the small speed of 5W. These devices became popular among iPhone 12 Mini users because the battery life of the smaller iPhone is slightly warmer. Now some owners of the MegSafe battery pack will enjoy a fast charging rate of 7.5W. However, it is worth noting that Apple's official charging bank will still lag behind the competition in terms of speed. Anchor, Belkin, Outbox and others already have faster compatible devices.
While the smartphone segment is taking an alternative route with fast charging, Apple is playing a secure game with its iPhone lineup. The company also invested in alternative magnetic charging instead of choosing the traditional wireless charging or fast wired charging. According to rumors, Apple plans to make a portless iPhone in the near future. This device will almost certainly have only MegSafe as a way of charging.
The next iPhone 14 series will continue to receive MegSafe, and wired charging will still be through the Lightning port. Apple will sell a new iPhone 14 Max instead of the Mini variant. The device will have the same hardware as the iPhone 14 but will have a larger screen and battery. According to recent reports, the iPhone 13 is selling well, but the iPhone SE3 is close to flop.
